PLOP label was established in December 2001 by Nao Sugimoto aka mondii as a division of a record company in Tokyo, Japan.
It's actually one of the oldest label in Japan that is still active in the scene. The label specializes in fresh electronic and organic experimental music from all over the world. We really don't have a specific concept because we think that the music will speak for itself. Maybe the image of the color "blue" best expresses our taste of music - clean, natural, pure and tender.. The aim of our label is to introduce great sounds from all over the world to Asia and also to give great Japanese artists an attention in the foreign countries. So I see one of our role as a bridge that goes over the continents as not much of the Japanese scene is still unfamiliar to the world. PLOP has already established a certain fame in the Japanese market with great sales by Gel:, Kazumasa Hashimoto, Fonica and Sora and have been gaining it's attention abroad by doing a Far- East Asian tour (Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong) and by participating in international festivals such as Mutek (Montreal) and Sonar (Barcelona).

Nao has also started PLOP distribution (now renamed to P*dis with the new manager Masami) in May 2002 and began to import CDs from over 200 labels around the world for the Japanese market using the vast distribution network of the record company.
In April 2006, Nao has left the record company and also retired from the distribution business and PLOP now stands alone as a independent label under Nao's newly established company called Nature Bliss. The new independent PLOP will restart with the first release in April/May 2007 with a different packaging and a new website (www.naturebliss.jp).
